At the State Academic Concert Organization “Kazakhconcert” named after Rosa Baglanova, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the creative evening “Atameken-ay” was held in honor of the 80th anniversary of the prominent Kazakh poet and Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Shomishbai Sariev, reports MadeniPortal.kz.

As a sign of special respect, a bouquet from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was presented to the participants. Congratulatory letters from Senate Chair Maulen Ashimbayev and Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva were read during the event. The poet’s wife, Zhumagul Sarieva, also attended the commemorative evening.

The concert program featured a retrospective of the author’s most iconic works, which have become classics. The audience enjoyed such works as “Ainaldym Senen, Atameken-ay,” “Qazaq Eli,” “Dombyra Turaly Ballada,” “Omir-ozhen,” “Sagyndym, Sagym Zhildar,” “Ayaulym,” “Sen Muynyngdy Ber Magan,” “Erkelediң Sen,” “Okinbe Sen,” and others.

Artists of the State Theatre “ASTANA MUSICAL” also performed poetic readings, adding depth and emotional richness to the evening.

The event brought together Honored Workers of Kazakhstan, award-winning artists, ensembles such as “Gulder,” “ASTANA MUSICAL,” the Kazakh State Symphony Orchestra, and many other performers. The chief conductor was Dastan Ibragimov.

Shomishbai Sariev is a poet, translator, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, and recipient of the Orders “Barys” and “Parasat.” His works have been translated into many languages and widely recognized internationally.
