Over the years, the musical has received high praise from audiences and has become one of the theatre’s signature productions. The premiere took place on October 16, 2016.

The musical is based on songs included in the Golden Fund of Kazakh music, featuring works by Shamshi Kaldayakov, Eskendir Khasangaliev, and the legendary band “Dos-Mukasan.” The performance also includes songs from the repertoire of the world-famous band “The Beatles” as well as compositions written in a modern musical style.

The story unfolds during the 1960s–1970s and follows four young applicants from different regions of Kazakhstan who come to the conservatory to pursue their dreams and meet in one city. The musical tells the story of their vibrant youth, sincere friendship, first love, and aspirations.

The production highlights the true meaning of friendship. Together, the characters experience their first emotions and face life’s challenges. One is a romantic, another is ambitious and determined, the third is cheerful and entertaining, while the fourth is thoughtful and reserved. Their dreams and goals become possible through friendship and mutual support. They share joy and sorrow together while overcoming difficulties side by side. The true power of friendship is revealed through every challenge and emotional moment.

Every scene of the musical is filled with opportunities, surprises, and memories familiar to youth. The characters become more than friends — they become true brothers who help one another achieve their dreams. “Dostar Serti” immerses audiences in unforgettable emotions, memories of youth, and the beauty of genuine friendship.

The libretto was written by Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Kairbekov, while the translator and dramatist is Annas Bagdat. The music for the production was composed by renowned conductor and Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Artur Orenburgsky. The musical is directed by Yesslam Nurtazin, Artistic Director of the State Musical Theatre “Astana Musical”.
